About Me

As a child I was an artist. When I grew older, I forgot how to be an artist. I had to remember how to see the world as a child, to see beauty and wonder in everything, to use my imagination and my intuition to create a world that was all my own. Now I try to work on that everyday; painting, doodling, coming up with ideas for new artwork, or just talking with creative people or spending time in nature. I don’t know how to describe my style of painting, I'm always experimenting with new styles and mediums. I’m not going to stop trying to perfect my art, but as Salvadore Dali said, “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.” I am a 22-year old female who comes from a creative family. I want to one day be a children's book illustrator and author.

My name is Hannah  I'm 22 and from San Diego, CA. I come from a large family (six kids!) so I think that contributes to my crazy, messy, hilarious, wacky, stressful, chocolate eating, wine drinking lifestyle. I love to paint. Love it. I've been doing art ever since I was very little (as most people have). When I was 8 my Mom signed me and my two older brothers up at Kids Did It! art studios, an awesome place to do art that was on our same block (how convienent!). Michelle and Glen Abrams ran the place out of their garage, served a snack everyday, and were helped by their Shit Zhu, Tucker. They also gave us our first real introduction to professional artistry. They set up the sale of our artwork for use on cards, calenders, gift wrap and more, which we got a commission from of course, not bad for an 8-year old! You can view their website at http://www.kidsdidit.com/

I am a graduate of the Waldorf School of San Diego, which helped shape my artistic style as well. I had some rough adolescent years and got into more than my fair share of trouble. Luckily, there is an organization that helped me get through those rough years and find real direction in my life. ARTS (A Reason To Survive) had been around for 10 years by the time I found out about it, I was 20 years old. They helped me re-discover my identity through art, because that was my real problem, I didn't know who I was and I was suffering mentally, physically, and emotionally because of it.

I am currently an Empower Student at ARTS; I help with classes for younger children, get guidence and emotional support from their awesome staff, and get so many great opportunities to further my art career. You can view their website here: http://www.areasontosurvive.org/
